POPE LEO XIV CHALLENGES FILMMAKERS

"BE witnesses of hope, beauty and truth in our world today."

This challenge was aired by Pope Leo XIV when several actors, actresses, filmmakers, writers, directors and producers met with him at the Vatican.

They're all members of the World of Cinema, a large group of filmmakers.

Nearly 130 years after the first film premiered in Paris in 1895, the Pope highlighted the importance of movies.

According to the Holy Father, cinema became an expression of the desire to contemplate and understand, to recount its greatness and fragility and to portray the longing for infinity.
