Many students face challenges in school, but for me, one of the biggest struggles I experienced in Grade X was my fear of public speaking. I was never confident enough to talk in front of a crowd, and even small classroom presentations made me feel nervous and embarrassed. This fear affected my academic performance and weakened my self-esteem. I often felt discouraged, thinking I would never improve.
Everything began to change when someone introduced me to the Rover Scouts. Honestly, I had no idea what the program was about.
I wasn't familiar with scouting or the activities involved, but after my friend explained it, I became curious. I started to wonder if joining could help me grow and overcome my fears. With that hope in mind, I decided to give it a try.
Once I officially became part of the Rover Scouts, I was warmly welcomed by the members. They explained the goals of the organization and the values they uphold. I learned practical skills like knot tying and first aid, but more importantly, I gained the courage to overcome my shyness. In Scouts, you're encouraged to speak up and take the lead. Slowly, I became more comfortable expressing myself. The support from the members showed me that growth is possible when you're in the right environment.
